🧡Art is a lawless romance. The innocent strokes can heal the human heart. Mu Xin once said, what we can do is just a long journey to return to our true selves. Today, I came to see Indra Dodi's personal art exhibition in Taiwan with my family!

🌸Indra Dodi participated in the German and Indonesian Art Exchange Program "U (DYS) TOPIA", organized by numerous multinational art institutions such as the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts (HfBK) and the Berlin Free Museum, in the same year of his graduation from the Indonesian Art University. The program focuses on how artists from both places reinterpret or transform local myths, fairy tales, and legends through creation. Following "U (DYS) TOPIA", Indra started to create paintings that combine elements of picture, drawing, sketch, and text writing on the surface.

❤️In Indra's recent series of works, he often constructs a monochromatic doodle world, arranging elements such as color, contour lines, and object images into a world that does not contradict each other, like a wall graffiti notebook completed by a group of children collectively. Characters, contour lines, and letters rarely overlap each other. Indra does not cover up or re-arrange a clean and accurate composition because of the "wrong". His painting process displays a winding path on this canvas, incorporating these seemingly "wrong" pictures as part of the painting.

💥His art reflected the artist as a natural storyteller, using color variations and daily items to create the accidental events and character stories he observed. Almost any encounter or observation could potentially become the theme of Indra's painting.

✨Take his "Happy Day" series as an example, for instance, the family is an essential part of society, and a happy family unit is the foundation of social happiness. Outing, just like in many places in the world, is a form of family bonding. The green color representing lush nature in the background of these works reflects the green rice fields observed by Indra around Yogyakarta, observing another diversity of humanity.
